See The Action Live!

This winter, join in the excitement as the FIS World Cup competitive skiing circuit comes to Lake Tahoe! Our Owners, Guests, and Associates from both Olympic Village Inn and Red Wolf Lodge at Olympic Valley are thrilled that this year’s Palisades Tahoe Cup will be hosted just steps away from our beloved resorts!

Palisades Tahoe is no stranger to championship level skiing. In fact, the resort’s current fame and storied history is in large part due to its founder Alex Cushing’s successful bid to host the 1960 Winter Olympics. Since that time, Palisades Tahoe has churned out countless world champions and is known across the globe as one of the best mountains for developing elite level racers. This season the resort is scheduled to host the Palisades Tahoe Cup, one of only four U.S. based stops on the Men’s World Cup circuit this season.

Fans of the sport will remember 2017, the last time Palisades Tahoe hosted a World Cup, when olympian Mikaela Shiffrin took home the gold in the women’s giant slalom event. The course, as described by Mikaela, was “one of, if not the toughest” on the women’s circuit.

This year, the men will try to tackle the same race venue, which is scheduled to be hosted on Dog Leg and Red Dog Face, just feet away from Red Wolf Lodge at Olympic Valley! Though the venue might not be the longest on the circuit, it is filled with very steep and very tight terrain, meaning the racers will need to be at their absolute best to navigate the course. Those familiar with the mountain will know that this is one of the best courses for spectating as a majority of the venue is visible right from the base area of the mountain! Though general admission ticketing is currently sold out, there are still options to purchase tickets at VIP pricing which comes with additional perks and benefits.

While racing takes the center stage at an event like this, spectators can also enjoy a host of other fun and exciting activities during race week. From live music, to fireworks, and other great sponsor-hosted events, even those who just plan on skiing at Palisades Tahoe during race weekend will have no shortage of fun ways to join in on the racing spirit!
