From the shores of Kauai to the golden state of California, Grand Pacific Resorts is dedicated to serving the communities it operates in!

Our Marketing and Communications team recently partnered with local charity Ray of Sunshine Equestrian Therapy in October. The goal was to help spruce up their new Southern California location where they welcome breast cancer thrivers wishing to rediscover themselves after cancer treatments.

Ray of Sunshine was founded in 2014 by Lia Ray, a breast cancer thriver herself, and offers a healing with horses program that provides a safe place for those affected by cancer to make new friends and take their minds off of treatments. The programs are tailored to each thriver’s needs, wants, and capabilities. This can be anything from riding horses, grooming or walking them. Lia is a believer that horses are natural healers and can help people gain insights to emotions, communications, personal healing and inner strength.

Ray of Sunshine recently moved from San Marcos to a larger ranch location in Fallbrook, Calif., where they can accommodate more animals and have more space to allow for their growing list of programs. The new ranch was in need of some tender love and care, and the MarCom team was happy to help!

Our team of associates helped paint railings and horse enclosures to make them look new again, removed thick ice plant that was overgrowing on the long driveway into the ranch, and rebuilt a fence that a goat had recently ran through.

“It was wonderful having the MarComm team at the ranch! Everyone came with smiles and were ready to jump in,” said Lia Ray, founder of Ray of Sunshine. “We were able to tackle so many much-needed projects that our small team hasn’t had the time to do yet.  It’s such a huge help that gives us the ability to focus more on program development and spending time with our thrivers. I’m so grateful for the help from Grand Pacific Resorts and look forward to more partnership opportunities!”

It was a great team building experience for MarCom, and the interactions with the Ray of Sunshine staff and their crew of animal friends was truly inspiring.

“Lia and her staff are truly amazing – they work hard to create a wonderful space for healing and the care they put into the ranch really shows,” said Shannon Cheesman, Grand Pacific Resorts’ Communications Manager. “Our team fell in love with the ranch immediately and it was inspiring to see how far Lia had come in just a few years. We were more than happy to lend a hand.”
