Carlsbad, CA (January 29, 2019) – Noyan Suel, Operations Manager at Carlsbad Seapointe Resort, managed by Grand Pacific Resorts, has been honored as the recipient of the 2018 CustomerCount Customer Engagement Professional (CEP) Resort Trades Award. The award recognizes outstanding leaders who exemplify customer engagement within the resort/hospitality industry.

Mr. Suel’s remarkable ability to concurrently connect to associates, care for guests, and meticulously organize and budget are the qualities that led to his winning this award. According to Nigel Lobo, COO of Grand Pacific Resorts, “Noyan has done a remarkable job stepping-up to lead Carlsbad Seapointe Resort while the resort’s GM assisted another out of state resort. One of the reasons Noyan is so deserving of this award is credited to his relationship with Guest Services Team Members whom he treats and trains as if they were supervisors.”

Noyan has learned about the resort industry from the bottom up. Initially, Noyan worked as a Medical Assistant at a local community clinic for six years and invested three years in higher education. He recognized that opportunity for advancement in that field would always be inhibited by the time and financial investment in the required advanced degrees. Growing up, Noyan would visit an iconic hotel in San Francisco where he was mesmerized by the dynamic energy. He decided to pursue the draw he always felt as a child by making a career in the hospitality industry where advancement opportunities are available to those that are passionate and willing to put in the work. He came to work as a bellman for Carlsbad Seapointe Resort, and in a span of less than three years, Suel moved from Bellman to Front Desk Agent, to Supervisor, to Assistant Front office Manager, to Front Office Manager, to his current position as Operations Manager. Additionally, for a full year the resort’s General Manager (GM) had been simultaneously managing another property, and Suel was acting Interim GM.

Attributed to Noyan’s rapid growth with Grand Pacific Resorts is his participation in the Grand BET (BE EPIC Trailblazers) leadership development program. Mr. Suel was an inaugural member, and completed the first phase of the program. He was so successful that his input was sought out for the development of phase two, because he had answers to questions about the program.

“Multiple things stand out when it comes to Noyan,” says Jeff Brock, General Manager at Carlsbad Seapointe Resort. “He is dependable, has a top notch work ethic, and always has insightful topics for discussion. He is respected not only by his team members, but by leaders in our company as well. There is an understanding that when Noyan is tasked with something, he’s not just going to get it done: he’s going to do it well. He’s a joy to be around, and we are very lucky to have him. He is very deserving of this award, and we could not be happier for him.”

Nominees were rated on extraordinary interactions with members/guests; remarkable improvements in on-site ratings of the resort; innovative training techniques and outstanding social media mentions and reviews. Nominations also included detailed insight regarding the leader’s performance and contribution showing how the nominee’s efforts and achievements have significantly impacted the team, company, and/or community. Noyan Suel and Grand Pacific Resorts will be profiled in the February issue of Resort Trades.
