The Hanalei Bay Resort participated in the 36th Annual Kaua’i Visitor Industry Charity Walk May 17th. Lillian Watari and Jim Braman acted as recruiters for the North Shore of the island encouraging associates from other resorts and local business to participate either by walking or by donating money and prizes. The walk benefitting the United Way kicked off at 7:00am at the historic Kauai county building in Lihue. HBR had a total of 12 participants including Lillian Watari, Jim Braman and 10 of the resort’s vacation owners. The crowd of over 2000 walkers started out with a Zumba warm up (Lillian’s favorite!) and then began the 2.9 mile walk through Lihue. It was a lot of fun with all having fun laughing and making new friends.

The island’s goal this year was to raise $202,000. We raised $215,241. AWESOME! Go Kaua’i……

All monies raised stay on the island and are distributed among 58 non-profit organizations. Last year, The Hanalei Bay Resort Ohana raised $3000 and individually, Lillian raised the 2nd largest amount on the entire island with $2600. This year we donated $6385.00 and Lillian came in 1st place with $5735 doubling her next closest competitor’s pledges.

Mahalo to Grand Pacific Resort Management and The Hanalei Bay Resort Owners and Associates for all your support. This event is a fantastic way for all of us to give back to our community. Remember we are all in this canoe together and we are paddling forward!
