White Water Rafting

White Water Rafting in Panorama: Outdoor adventure knows no bounds in Panorama Village and the white water rafting experience spells excitement for anyone who is along for the ride.

Kootenay River Runners delivers white water fun down the glacier fed water of the Toby Creek. High peak glaciers capping the Purcells feed into Toby Creek creating a gushing whirlpool of white water. This natural water roller coaster sets the pace for the adventurous souls setting off in one of Kootenay River Runners' rubber and canvas rafts.

The Toby Creek Trip: The Toby Creek water gusher snakes through mountain wilderness and steep canyons. The basic trip carries intrepid travelers around twists and turns of the Class I section. For first time rafters and seasoned professionals will find the Toby Creek Trip a boatload of thrills and excitement.

The Kicking Horse Classic Trip & Kicking Horse Ultimate Trip: Covering a distance of about 12.4 miles (24 km) the trip gets started at Kootenahy River Runners Kicking Horse River Basecamp immediately west of Yoho National Park Boundary. The trip begins slowly in the upper and middle canyons. Speed picks up until you get drenched in nonstop Class III to Class IV rapids. Along the way you shoot Portage, Last Waltz, and Shotgun and all the other rapids. The Kicking Horse Ultimate Trip adds the Lower Canyon section to the Classic Trip for another 1.5 hours of rafting.

Typically this vigorous trip is available beginning in early June when spring snow runoff levels permit safe rafting.

Kootenay River Full Day Trip & Kootenay River Half Day Trip: Raft Class II and III rapids make up the journey for this family adventure. The one-day outing is a 30 mile frolic down the rough and tumble Kootenay River. Whitewater, scenic Rockies panoramas and wandering wildlife make this trip a family must. A morning snack and riverside buffet lunch is included. Kids as young as five years can participate and grandparents are always welcome. The Half Day Trip runs over a 12 mile stretch of the Kootenay and includes a snack of hot and cold drinks, cheese, pastry and fruit.

Voyager Canoe Trip: Paddle back into time on the scenic Columbia River as a modern day voyager guides you along the trails of fur traders in birchbark canoes. You can relive those bygone times with stories told by the knowlegable and enthusiastic tour guide. Columbia Wetlands are filled with wildlife and the Pacific Flyway is the flight path for migrating birds and they are all part of this history comes to life adventure.
