Once you have purchased a vacation, there are a number of ways to become an active owner, ensuring that you are kept up-to-date
on the industry.
Homeowners Association
With timeshare, ownership is considered a major benefit. Once a majority or other pre-set percentage of timeshare inventory (which varies
by state) is sold to vacation owners, the management of the resort is usually turned over to a Resort Property Owners Association (POA) or
Homeowners Association (HOA). The vacation owners in turn elect officers and take control of expenses, upkeep, and the future of their resort
property, including the selection of a management company.
ARDA-Resort Owners Coalition
The ARDA-Resort Owners Coalition (ARDA-ROC) is the first line of defense against legislation that may negatively impact timeshare owners
and their well-being. Through ARDA-ROC, timeshare owners are part of an effective grassroots lobbying coalition—550,000 strong—dedicated
to preserving, protecting, and enhancing vacation ownership.
You will have access to ARDA-ROC's online community through their website at www.ardaroc.com.
Through shared industry information, you will feel involved and more vested in your vacation ownership purchase. You will also become aware
of the sophistication of the industry, as you receive updates through your resort on the association's efforts for the industry. Individual
voluntary contributions are used to protect owners from federal, state, and local government attempts to raise revenue at the expense of timeshare
owners. ARDA-ROC utilizes its contributions to hire consultants and experts to work with ARDA staff to track and follow legislative and regulatory
activity in the White House, regulatory agencies, the U.S. Congress, and on the state and local level.
